An SMTP relay service allows our partners to use their domain and mail server to send emails sent by the Edusign platform.
You can therefore customize the sender address of all Edusign mails: Mails sent by hello@edusign.fr can be sent by my-address@my-domain.com.
In this article for "owner" administrators, you will find:

❗ Prerequisites
Don't forget to save your settings to apply them.
For the next steps, you must already have:
Appropriate administration rights to configure your company's SMTP server (Google Account, Google Workspace, Microsoft Azure and/or Office365, SendGrid, etc.).
The "Owner" user role on the platform edusign.app/school to configure your custom domain. Follow our article on the different roles of the administration platform.
1️⃣ Company SMTP server configuration
Via Gmail
First activate Two-Step Verification. If needed, refer to the Google user documentation for this option.
Then set up a personalized application password. Google documentation if difficulty arises.
This password is only visible upon generation! Save it in a safe place for the future.👇
Via Office 365
Step 1: Activate "Authenticated SMTP" from the Office 365 Admin Center
Note: The Office 365 account you use must have a license assigned. Otherwise, the emails will not be sent.
Log in to https://admin.microsoft.com/ with your Office 365 admin account.
In the Users > Active Users page: Create a user dedicated to sending emails. If you plan to use an existing active user, skip to the next step.
Click on the active user you have chosen and go to the "Mail" tab.
Click on "Manage mail apps" and enable "Authenticated SMTP". See the associated Microsoft documentation if needed.
Step 2: Unlock AUTH SMTP in the Microsoft Exchange Admin Center
Log in to https://admin.exchange.microsoft.com/ with your Office 365 admin account, or an account with appropriate rights to administer your Exchange server.
Go to the "Settings" page and click on "Mail flow"
Finally, in the "Security" section, uncheck the "Disable AUTH SMTP protocol for your organization" setting if it is checked.
Step 3: Disable default securities from Azure Active Directory
Log in to https://portal.azure.com/ with your Office 365 admin account, or an account with appropriate rights to administer your Azure portal.
Then go to the view for "Manage Azure Active Directory".
In the "Overview" page, click on the "Properties" tab and click on "Manage security settings by default".
Finally, set the "Default security settings" to "Disabled".
It may also be necessary to enable authenticated SMTP via your Office 365 Admin Center > Settings > Organization Settings > Modern Authentication. Be sure to check before testing sending an email. 😉
2️⃣ Configuration from Edusign
You can configure your custom domain:
From your Settings > Organization Information > "Customize the email sending address (SMTP)".
Or from your Settings > Emails > "Customize the email sending address (SMTP)".
Enter the necessary information for the configuration and then save.
If using Office 365: Set up SMTP AUTH client submission
You can test the setup by sending a test email. 🤗
Here is an example of the email you should receive if your setup is valid:
3️⃣ Validate your configuration
Once your configuration is saved in Edusign, future emails sent from the platform will come with your personalized address! 🤝
Note: The delay for the new SMTP configuration to take effect may take several hours to reflect on all emails sent by Edusign. Thank you for your understanding.
Mailings not working as expected? 🤔
Setting up a configuration with SMTP relay delegates mail routing to your own SMTP server, whether self-managed or managed by one of your service providers.
It is common that for security reasons, sending emails does not go as planned:
Have you authorized the domain from which Edusign sends you the email? If IP address filters are necessary, you can contact our support.
Have you checked the event logs of your SMTP server? Or the firewalls set up on your network and other components related to mail delivery?
Have you disabled the security measures previously described for the Microsoft or Google configuration?
On the Edusign side, we record email sendings by our SMTP client, but we do not know the cause of the error in your system. You can contact support to provide evidence and additional explanations if necessary. 🤗
