🔍 Overview and Use Cases
Specifically, the app displays the following in real time:
the number of learners present,
the number of excused absences,
the number of unexcused absences,
the total number of students involved.
You can view this data directly from your Edusign account, and you can also generate a secure external link to share it outside the platform (with a trusted third party, a funding agency, management, etc.). For security reasons, each generated link is valid for only 24 hours.
The goal: to give you an instant and reliable overview of attendance, without having to open your attendance sheets one by one. 🙌
🔑 Prerequisites
Before installing Real Time Attendance, make sure that:
You have the Owner or Administrator role on your Edusign platform (only these roles can install or uninstall an app);
Your institution has access to the App Marketplace (menu Application > Marketplace).
The app is 100% free and is listed in the Analytics category. Like any app in the Marketplace, it will ask you to grant certain access permissions (reading, creating, and updating data such as attendance sheets, learners, groups, courses, etc.) that are necessary to calculate your attendance statistics in real time.
🧩 Install the Real Time Attendance app
Go to the Application menu, then select Marketplace.
Search for " Real Time Attendance " in the list of available apps.
Open the app's details page to view its description, the promotional video, and the permissions it requests.
Click " Install App."
There you go! Once installed, the app is available to all users of your platform in the following areas:
Administrator Platform: Dashboard.
Instructor Platform: Dashboard and Attendance Sheet Details.
📊 Use Real-Time Attendance
From the administrator's perspective, you can view your school's attendance statistics directly from the dashboard: students present, excused absences, unexcused absences, and total number of students. You can then access the photo directory to see more detailed information, learner by learner.
💡 To learn more: Sharing data externally
From within the app, you can generate an external link by clicking "Go to the Student Directory," which allows you to access attendance data from any device, without needing to log in to Edusign. Useful for reporting attendance status to a third party (funding agency, management, partner, etc.) without giving them access to your platform. For security reasons, this link automatically expires after 24 hours.
From the instructor's perspective, the same logic applies down to the details of an attendance sheet: the instructor can view the attendance of the learners present in their session in real time.
💡 Examples of use cases
Live tracking of a major training event: During a session with multiple groups running simultaneously, an administrator can monitor the overall attendance rate from their dashboard without having to open each attendance sheet.
Sharing with a funding agency or partner: Do you need to submit an attendance report to an OPCO, a department, or an external partner that does not have an Edusign account? Generate an external link that is valid for 24 hours and send it directly.
Educational guidance during training: A trainer can check in real time, using the attendance sheet, who is present or absent, in order to adapt the session or follow up with missing learners.
Real-time reporting for management: A training manager wants an instant overview of daily attendance without having to wait for the timesheets to be finalized.
🔧 Good to Know / FAQ
Who can install the app? Only users with the Owner or Administrator role can install or uninstall an app on Edusign. Once installed, it can be used by all relevant users (administrators and staff).
How long does the external link remain active? 24 hours after it is generated, for security reasons. After this period, you'll need to generate a new one from within the app.
Is there a fee for the app? No, Real Time Attendance is a free app.
Where can I uninstall the app? From the Marketplace menu > Connected Apps, if you no longer wish to use it.
